5 steps to take to achieve the empowerment of women in Africa

In sub - Saharan Africa, more than 400 African women die each day from pregnancy and childbirth in poor condition.
From conception to birth , women can have complications that pose a great risk to the health of the mother and baby. At any sign of risk it is important that women have full access to a health system to receive immediate treatment. However, in many parts of Africa women do not have the information necessary to worry about the warning signs before or do not have access to the necessary treatment.

Therefore, women living in poverty suffer from miscarriages, sexually transmitted diseases, violence, and maternal death, to name only a few situations.
To prevent this from happening, you need to make better conditions for the reproductive health of women .

4. Improve the management of natural sources

Improve the management of natural sources
In sub - Saharan Africa , women produce between 60 and 80% of food sold and consumed in homes. In countries in particular, the figures vary widely, for example in Sudan's contribution of women in food production is 30%, while in Congo is 80%.
Beyond that, all over the continent in general, and especially in sub - Saharan Africa, women have a basic role in the application of fertilizer and pesticides, planting, at harvest, processing and transport of food, and Finally, in the marketing .
However, women have less access to land than men and the low recognition of their role in the continent's economy is regrettable. In many of these regionsshould recognize the role of women in production. To do this, you must provide the tools, training and the necessary recognition to women. Furthermore, this increase achieved quality of crop fields and thereby improve production.

3. Improving education

Improving education
25% of women in the world are illiterate and the vast majority live in Africa. In addition, in 47 of 54 African countries, women have less than a 50% chance of completing high school.
The level of education of women and girls in parts of Africa is worrying. In Sudan, a woman is more likely to die in childbirth than to finish primary. In addition, less than 2% of women in Somalia attend secondary. In Uganda and Kenya, fewer than half of women than men who come to attend the later years of school. And in Uganda less than 12% of teachers are women, in Somalia less than 3%.
The education of women has many benefits. to begin reducing poverty, improving the health of women and households, as women have more income and fewer children.

2. Economic Empowerment

Economic Empowerment
The women in Africa spend 90% of their income on their homes. In contrast, men spend 30 or 40%. Undoubtedly, women are the basis for building a strong, sustainable and equitable economy. Expand freedom and education and opportunity to every woman in the continent is the solution to achieve economic growth that these countries badly need.
In agriculture , women are essential and in the organization and home maintenance and new generations as well. And all this despite laws that limit access of women to own property, inherit, have credit decisions. and the large amount of gender violence. How would then the potential of women in Africa if all these barriers?
It is necessary that women have access to the tools, knowledge and freedom to support households and successful agriculture

1. Political Empowerment

Political Empowerment
The participation of women in politics in Africa has increased considerably since the 90s, with their participation in a variety of organizations in both local government and the legislature. However, in many regions when women political positions are still subject to intimidation, harassment and even violence have.

In fact, many notions traditional still believe that politics is not "work for a woman." Besides this, in many countries women have no right to own property or inherit property, to access credit, go to school, receive an income or change
The woman is the key to developing a policy with better opportunities without corruption. The paticipation of woman in politics will allow a stronger democracy and will be, no doubt, a strong political and economic growth.

Weddings are joyous occasions full of family and friends, smiles, laughter, tears, and celebration! Weddings incorporate all sorts of activities, music, customs and traditions, and various types of food and drinks. Though it's popular to have open bars and alcoholic cocktails at a wedding, it is by no means required. Whether you feel uncomfortable having alcohol at your wedding or just want to offer guests a variety of non-alcoholic choices for beverages, these 5 are a wonderful addition to any love party!
(Click on the drink names to get the full recipes!)

1. The World's Best Cherry Limeade

Brought to you by the girls over at Pretty Providence, this bright and tasty cherry limeade is sure to be a hit at your wedding, especially if it's in the warmer spring and summer months! This recipe calls for frozen limeade concentrate, Sprite, lime, maraschino cherries (with juice), and pebble ice for serving (to keep it cool and make it look pretty!). Very easy to make, the recipe can be multiplied in order to make enough servings for your wedding celebration. It is also made with inexpensive ingredients, so it really is a budget-friendly option and can help you save some major bucks on your big day.

2. Ocean Water

Mallory & Savannah, the two lovely ladies behind the blog Classy Clutter, have come up with the perfect "Ocean Water" recipe that is a copycat for Sonic's own drink! Yum! In order to make your own batch, you'll need white sugar, water, lemon-lime soda, coconut extract, and blue food coloring. You can add fresh fruit as a garnish such as pineapples, oranges, limes, and maraschino cherries. Just skewer them onto a party pick and serve, or just cut them down the center enough to have them sit on the rim of your cup. This is especially beautiful for a summer or beach-themed wedding!

3. Watermelon Lime Soda

Summertime in a glass! This delicious watermelon lime soda is brought to you by Annalise of the blog Completely Delicious. For this drink recipe, you'll need fresh watermelon chunks, sparkling water or club soda, lime simple syrup (a combo of sugar, water, fresh lime juice, and lime zest), and water. Just puree the watermelon chunks and strain the juice so that the seeds and pulp are removed, and combine the watermelon juice, simple syrup, and sparkling water in a pitcher, add in the simple syrup last, to taste.

4. Double Hot Chocolate

The perfect addition to any winter wonderland wedding. Better Homes and Gardens has it right with this super-chocolatey version of the classic hot cocoa recipe. For the drink, you'll need half-and-half, light cream, or whole milk, chopped semisweet and bittersweet chocolate, dark-color corn syrup, and sweetened whipped cream. This warm drink is great for any holiday wedding or one during the cooler months, as it will be sure to taste great and keep your guests full of good cheer the whole night through.

What We'd Like To Teach Melania Trump About Plagiarism

Trump’s campaign just hit another bump in the long, treacherous road to governing America, with Melania Trump’s seemingly similar speech to that of Michelle Obama’s Democratic National Convention speech she gave in 2008. After reading the transcripts side by side, it’s definitely evident that Melania’s speech writers turned to Michelle Obama’s speech for, um, “inspiration.”
But what exactly is plagiarism and what happens to those who plagiarize material from others when they’re not Melania Trump? Melania was backed by several people, including Chris Christie who felt that she did not plagiarize at all and that there was no considerable similarity between her speech and Michelle Obama’s.
Plagiarism refers to the practice of taking the words of others and passing them off as your own. Colleges and universities have strict guidelines against this, and most of the time it will result in expulsion or another serious consequence. When a journalist chooses to partake in plagiarism, it often results in them losing their job.
Two prominent journalists who faced repercussions for plagiarism include Jayson Blair and Kaavya Viswanathan. Blair was a reporter for The New York Times that was investigated for a column he had written that was eerily close to one written earlier by Macarena Hernandez. The Times found that 36 of the 73 articles he had written were either plagiarized, fabricated, or showed signs of other aspects of unethical behavior.
Blair resigned from the Times and has not taken up a job as a journalist since the investigation broke. As for Viswanathan, a Harvard student who wrote a book titled How Opal Mehta Got Kissed, Got Wild, and Got a Life, her book was pulled after allegations it was composed of copied portions of other books from authors in the “chick lit” field.
After some time, she was able to graduate from Harvard and be accepted into Georgetown Law, as well as score an internship at the New York office of Sullivan & Cromwell.
You can avoid plagiarism by paraphrasing a section of some research you have done. Never use more than two words in a row from a section of text you found, and if you want to use a section longer than two words, put quotation marks around it.
You can also opt to cite your work, which signals to the reader that the text comes from certain author(s) and from a certain publication, which is included either beside the text or as a footnote. You can also do a similar practice called “referencing,” in which you reference the page or pages from a work at the end of your research paper that allows the reader to know the text is not your own words and came from a different original source.
The lesson here? It's ok to take inspiration from Michelle Obama, but next time at least reference her as your source of inspo.

10 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Trump's Kids

With Donald Trump as the official nominee for the Republican Party, his kids have been seeing a lot of the limelight as well. Trump has five children, Ivanka, Tiffany, Eric, Donald Jr., and Barron. Despite the negative portrayal of Trump in the media, his kids actually think he’s an incredible dad.
There’s much more to this family than what meets the eye. Here are 10 things you should know about Trump’s kids that you probably, well, don’t.

1. Ivanka owns a clothing line.

Ivanka launched a successful clothing line in 2011, featuring pieces like dresses, eyewear, bags, and shoes, tailored to businesswomen like herself. Her clothing is generally affordable, and sold in stores like Macy’s, Nordstrom Rack, and Lord & Taylor. According to InStyle magazine, Trump’s line “includes casual day and work-friendly looks like scarf-print blouses, ponte knit capri pants, soft cardigans and patterned skirts, plus a few night-on-the-town options like lace cocktail dresses—all for under $200.” Her line is made up of very classy, timeless designs.

2. She is the woman behind #womenwhowork.

If you visit Ivanka Trump’s site, you’ll see that it gears towards the business and young professional woman, with articles on topics such as style, work, home, play, travel, and advice. She began the hashtag#womenwhowork, which is used to celebrate the modern woman. According to the site, “For the first time in history, [modern women are] able to embrace the fact that our lives are multidimensional. We’re doing work we love, work that inspires us, and we’re also pursuing our passions and making them priorities.” The initiative is meant to inspire women with power interviews on career and style advice for the working woman.

3. Donald Jr. has a thing for hunting.

The Trump boys reportedly went on a kill safari in 2012, and photos have definitely surfaced of Eric holding both an African leopard and a water buffalo. According to NY Daily News, Donald Jr. told Forbes magazine in 2012, “Anyone who thinks hunters are just ‘bloodthirsty morons’ hasn’t looked into hunting,”
He continued, “Nature actually humbles you. Hunting forces a person to endure, to master themselves, even to truly get to know the wild environment."

4. He’s also a family man.

Donald Jr. is married to model Vanessa Haydon, and they have three sons and two daughters. The couple got married in November 2005.

5. Tiffany is an Ivy League graduate.

In 2016, Tiffany graduated from University of Pennsylvania, just like her father. According to USA Today, “She double majored in sociology and and urban studies, with a concentration on law.” She posted this sweet photo with her sister Ivanka thanking her family and friends for the support she received through school.

6. And she’s IG famous.

With a whopping 173k followers on Instagram and her role in The Rich Kids of IG, Tiffany has definitely earned her title as being IG famous. Her bright photos and cute outfits up her selfie game, and herUPenn selfie totally takes the cake, for us. Beauty and brains!

7. Eric Trump is big into philanthropy.

In 2013, Eric was named one of the 20 most important young philanthropists by The New York Observer, and founded the Eric Trump Foundation (when he was only 23!). He has raised about $30 million for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in California.

8. His wife is an associate producer for CBS.

Eric is married to Lara Yunaska, the associate producer of Inside Edition on CBS. The couple was together for six years before they got engaged and eventually married at Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, FL on November 8, 2014.

9. Barron is not raised by nannies.

In an interview with People magazine, Melania and Donald opened up about raising Barron, and how, despite their busy schedules, they try and have the most hands-on parenting approach they can, sans nannies. Trump said, "If you have too much help, you don't get to know your children."

10. He has many similarities to his father.

Melania told http://Parenting.com that her son “is a very strong-minded, very special, smart boy. He is independent and opinionated and knows exactly what he wants. Sometimes I call him little Donald. He is a mixture of us in looks, but his personality is why I call him little Donald.”

These Celebs Show You How To Navigate Post Breakup

Relationships are all good and dandy when the ocean ahead looks like smooth sailing. However, when it gets stormy things take a turn for the worse and then eventually another turn to splitsville. What do you do then?
Some find themselves resorting to the cliche, but comfort, of watching sad romance movies and dipping a spoon straight into a tub of Ben & Jerry's—now that you don't have to share the Chunky Monkey. Others throw themselves into nonstop physical exertion, hoping to rid of heartbreak one drop of sweat at a time. There are no rules for how to navigate life after love. There's no handbook that tells you how its done. No rights and no wrongs.
So instead of laying in your dark room trying to ponder your way out of sorrow, turn to the celebs whose failed relationships have been on display lately. Allow their very public breakups to guide you through your private struggle.

Ozzy & Sharon Osbourne

After a long marriage, you begin to adopt characteristics of your significant other. It's inevitable. Once your kids are of age and it's just the two of you, where do you go from there?
It’s simple, you put forth all of your anger and aggression toward your talk show, the way Sharon Osbourne has. Okay, so maybe you don't have a talk show, but you can bottle that energy and use it to dominate in your career just like the matriarch of the Osbournes has done.

Zac Efron & Sami Miro

When two hot young people get together and develop a steamy relationship, everyone feasts their eyes on the duo. When the duo decides to part ways, it's a let down for everyone who was cheering them on.
So how do you rebuild after losing your sexy significant other? Well, you get to work on your rock hard abs. After all there’s no better revenge than a good body. In Zac Efron's case, the body takes over the big screen alongside even funnier comedians. That's important too, get yourself some source of laughter.

Drew Barrymore & Will Kopelman

Sometimes it’s hard to find the perfect person and it seems like an endless stream of dating before meeting the one. But what happens when you meet the one, have two children, are married for three years and then your bond deteriorates?
You immerse yourself into your old habits. For Drew Barrymore that meant getting her hands wet with some acting work, as well as pushing her wine business to the paramount of success. Is there an old project you started but slacked on once you fell in love? Pick it back up!

Kylie Jenner & Tyga

Dating a guy who is a little older and wiser can be fun when you’re 18. We just love dating the guys our moms warned us about. What we don’t take into consideration is how this “dream boat” may come with a lot of baggage. This relationship is fun at first but seriously, who's ready to be a stepmom at 18? When the relationship hits rock bottom and you’re single again, what do you do?
You lean on your best friends and your sisters as your support system. You continue your reign queen on Snapchat. You also pump up the supply of your really popular lipkits. Fine, you don't own your own lipstick company, but you can turn that sadness into success like Kylie.
Breakups can be hard and you can often lose yourself in the process of mourning, but the point here is to do more of the other stuff you love when it’s over.
